Abstract: Along with the increasing competition on the Arctic related interests among world powers, Arctic social science research emerges as a critical research field. Analyzing the collaboration network and citation network of this field helps to understand the relation pattern and the characteristics of the knowledge flow among researchers, and thus can deeply look into the development of the domestic Arctic social science research. The objective of this paper is to analyze the co-author relationship and citation relationship of the Arctic social science research in the Chinese journal literature from 2007 to 2015. Centrality analysis and community analysis were used to investigate the structures of the collaboration network and citation network of the Arctic social science research in China. A few large-scale research groups had formed among the Arctic social science researchers, and yet most of the researchers were scattered for lack of communication and cooperation mechanism. In addition, the knowledge flows among active authors are asymmetric and intergenerational characteristics began to emerge. It is necessary to stimulate the enthusiasm of people from different fields to participate in Arctic social science research. Furthermore, complementary research teams should build to promote the development of Arctic Social Science Research.
