Abstract: The Randstad in Netherland is the success paradigm of preparation and implementation of spatial planning, and it is the typical example of an international multi-center urban agglomerations. By using literature analysis, this paper reviews the spatial planning process of the Randstad, summarizes the main space management practices, analyzes the spatial structure and layout features of the area. We should use experiences of spatial planning in the region, establish of a unified main spatial planning system, draw ecological protection red strictly, plann the land and sea as a whole to achieve co-ordination development, optimize the layout of urban agglomerations to build China's "Randstad "urban cluster.
