Abstract: With the viewpoint of Spatial Dynamics and Dialectics, this article reexamines the female Muslim religious spaces in China. Through the Muslim women’s action and practice, Guangzhou’s Xiananian Mosque demonstrates different meaning of place. It is not only the sacred space defined by history as well as Quran and Islam classic texts, but also the daily living space where can be reproduce constantly by multiple practices of Muslim women. Effected by the cultural diversity in globalizing Guangzhou, the female Muslim immigrant groups at the Sage Mosque break the traditional patriarchal institutions and turn to the public religion activities to cognize Islam. The Muslim women’s self-learning about Islam and daily practices in Xianxian Mosque formed a more comprehensive and progressive religious concept which is beneficial to them to increase the level of ethnic identity simultaneously. Meanwhile, on one hand, the daily practice in the female Muslim religious space provides rich social capital for the female Muslim to integrate themselves into a new city. On the other hand, these practice enable a part of female Muslim to become participants in the globalization process. To some extent, both aspects contribute to the advancement of the social status of female Muslim Immigrant in the China’s big city.
