America Returns to Asia-Pacific and China’s Strategy-Based on the perspective of South China Sea’s Marine Strategic Access
    2017, 26(1): 12-21.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (449KB) ( )
America has been controlling the strategic chokepoint of South China Sea, and the extension of China’s strategic interest is threatening America’s control status in South China Sea. In this context America put forward the strategy of returning to Asia-Pacific in order to strengthen the control of South China sea and prevent the challenge from China and maintain its hegemony. This article studies why did America return to Asia-Pacific from the perspective of South China Sea’s marine strategic access. The research found that America intervened in the South China Sea’s dispute is based on internal and external reasons. The internal motivation is that America’s grand strategy determines it must control the marine strategic access and it wants to turn the South China Sea into its global 17th marine strategic access. The external reason is that China’s activities in the South China Sea squeezed America’s space of marine strategic access. China should plan the strategic responses on the premises of not influencing national grand strategy and marine strategy.

The types of Free Economic Zones in India and Its Implications
    2017, 26(1): 22-31.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (575KB) ( )
Abstract: Free Economic Zones (FEZs) are not only the product of the economic globalization and the regional economic integration, but also platforms to promote urbanization development and system innovations. India is one of the emerging economies that have witnessed a relatively rapid economic growth globally, playing a strategic role in the implementation of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative. At present, relevant research by both Chinese and foreign scholars are short of the overall evolution types and the development dynamic and resistance of the FEZs. The article summarizes the four types which include Export Processing Zones (EPZs), Science Technology Parks (STPI), Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Free Trade Zones (FTZs) through literature review. Based on this, it analyzes and concludes the dynamics- resistance mechanism through the factors which in international, domestic and areas. At last, the article discusses what messages the evolution of FEZs in India has brought to the development of FEZs (FTZ) in China. In conclusion, this article sheds some light on the improvement of the theoretical study on Indian FEZ’s overall development rules and the establishment of FTZ in China.

Comparative review and prospect of the jobs-housing spatial relationship
    2017, 26(1): 32-44.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (566KB) ( )
The jobs-housing spatial relationship can reflect the urban spatial structure and the operational efficiency, and thus has long been a studying topic in several disciplines. However, there are obvious differences on the final conclusion because of the different research perspectives. The paper carded the research contents, the main viewpoints and disputes from the difference of discipline background, then summarized and looked ahead the future research fields of the jobs-housing spatial relationship. The paper found that the sociology focused on the spatial mismatch of disadvantaged groups under the influence of social policy and individual character differences, and the spatial mismatch hypothesis is controversial. The urban economics emphasized on the determinant role of the market and believed that the job-housing separation is the inevitable stage of city growth cycle. Urban planners have tried to verify the effectiveness of jobs-housing balance by measuring the urban commuting efficiency and taken the jobs-housing balance as perfect model and planning ideology, despite being some studying disputes on the jobs-housing balance. Urban geography has insight into the urban space reconstruction, the influencing factors and formation mechanism from the macro space measurement and the micro individual behavior changes. The following research should focus on the integrated model construction and fining simulation of jobs-housing relationship based on the big data and the total-element information from the macro perspective and the influences of jobs-housing relationship on individuals and groups, as well as their responses based on the Postmodernism and Humanism from the micro perspective.

    2017, 26(1): 45-55.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (687KB) ( )
in this article, search query data of tourism element of 24 major cities in China is used, and processes and technical methods are established for keywords of tourism elements selecting, search query data mining and stripping. Entropy method is used to integrate comprehensive index of search query data to analyze network attention-degree of the cities. Combined with Coefficient of Variation, Herfindahl index, and standard deviation ellipse method, the evolution of the spatial pattern of urban tourism elements be explored from 2011 to 2015. This article draws a conclusion that ‘Meals, lodging, travel, shopping, tour, and entertainment’ have different degrees of attractiveness. Coefficient of Variation of ‘Meals, lodging, travel, entertainment’ shows fluctuation of “V” shape. Shopping’s is getting larger and larger, but tour’s is getting smaller and smaller. Although the evolution of the spatial pattern has some similarities, the standard deviation ellipse which be acquired by using the search query data of ‘Meals, lodging, travel, shopping’ offset towards southwest, and of ‘travel, entertainment’ is showing a shift northeast.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (703KB) ( )
The core idea of compact city is: mixed land use, high density development and public traffic. The compact city can prevent the uncontrolled spread of the city and slow down the energy consumption and the impact of climate change. This study gives a review of the evolution of modern urban planning ideas from nineteenth century to twentieth century. The research introduces the concept of compact city in western countries from four aspects of sustainability, urban transportation, urban density and quality of life. And makes a commentary on the cases of compact cities in Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. At last, threw out a suggestion that Chinese cities should promote urban planning and construction in a more sophisticated way, launch effective public transport policy and carry out the planning of the neighborhood and the community.

Spatial Pattern Analysis of National Piano Manufacturing firms in China
    2017, 26(1): 102-111.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (791KB) ( )
The software of Arc GIS 9.3 was adopted to analyze the spatial pattern of national piano manufacturing firms in China, based on some indices such as the nearest neighbor index, the nuclear density index, Ripley’s L index and so on. The results show that the national piano manufacturing firms in China have significant characteristics of spatial concentration, taking a growing trend. Most of the firms are mainly distributed in the Yangtze Delta Region, areas surrounding Bo Sea, Pearl River Delta area and eastern coastal areas. Besides, some other firms are mainly distributed in some Provinces along Changjiang River, such as Sichuan and Hubei. On the whole, the spatial pattern of national piano manufacturing firms in China, which is in agreement with that of the distribution of piano penetration to a certain extent, presents a shape of ‘T’ distribution. What’s more, the agglomeration degree has enhanced and firm’s scale has expanded on small scale, while the agglomeration degree of firms continues to increase with the increase of scale, and the firms’ concentration scale has been narrowing. Finally, on the basis of the above results, some factors, which are used to explain the spatial pattern of national piano manufacturing firms in China, such as able men effects, policy support, foreign capital drives and agglomeration effects, are summed up and analyzed in the paper.

    2017, 26(1): 112-123.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (814KB) ( )
Based on the conceptual that overlaps between transnational lineage networks and the making of place meaning, the paper attempts to investigate the social construction and place-making of Qiaoxiang which is filled with place meaning and shaped by the interaction between external economic and political system and local social culture. By using a case study on Qianmei VIllage of Chenhai Distinct, Shantou City, the article employs qualitative analysis, such as literature analysis, text analysis and depth interview, to explain the mechanism of the continuous change of the social relationship within the process of place-meaning construction. We argued that the meaning of the space and place of Qianmei Village is reconstructed continuously. In addition, it proves that the Qianxiang as space of representation explains different cultural meaning and place image under the spatial practice by different social relationships in different periods. Compared with the researchs of other subjects, the paper focuses on the meaning of space and place of Qiaoxiang which has been ignored in scholarship for a long time, and explore the social culture process of Qiaoxiang deep inside through the relationship among space, place and people.

The Geographical Interpretation of Space Communication Characteristics in SNS Community by Education Social Resources Theory——Taken "college entrance examination" of Baidu Post Bar as an example
    2017, 26(1): 124-133.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (871KB) ( )
The significant regional differences and gaps of education infrastructure do exist in China, but the network environment and its application are balanced. So whether the personalized information communication can play a special role of learning in the Web 2.0 era or not and what the effects of personal information exchange. On this basis, whether eliminating the differences in regional education development can play a special role or not, which needs the related theoretical study and the regional geographic explanation. The Article chooses the education topic of “the College Entrance Examination Bar” in Baidu as a case, and uses participants’ location and replies to reflect spatial relationships of interpersonal nodes. It analyzes the main spatial communication characteristic of interpersonal nodes in China’s SNS community through social network analysis method, and analyzes the formation of these characteristics in education social resources theory, aiming to explain the learning effect of SNS community interpersonal spatial exchange for participants and its geographical rules. The study found that: The spatial communication of interpersonal nodes displays the sparse class star and linear structure in overall. Low clustering coefficient is characterized with high diffusion bonding characteristics. The spatial asymmetry of the in-degree and out-degree shows local cluster communication situation around the center node. The spatial communication of interpersonal nodes also has the non-distance attenuation, which is less dependent on local administrative-economic center city, and breaks through the administrative division Barriers in a larger extent; the connection within administrative regions is weaker than the connection between the administrative regions. The interpersonal characteristic of the participant is gradually enhanced in SNS community. These space communication characteristics can be geologically explained by the theory of social resources of individuals, inter-individuals and areas (positions). A method for improving the imbalanced educational resource space between regions is proposed.
