National Territory, Map Discourse and Geopolitics-- A Case study on Sovereignty and Territorial Awareness in Chinese
    2017, 26(5): 1-11.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (491KB) ( )
Abstract: The analysis of global geopolitics relies on the spatial representation of maps, among which national territory maps not only separate different countries and regions by color and boundaries, but also reflects the political views of a state, influencing the national territory identity of citizens. National territory map reflects the political views of the state. A right national territory map is a symbol of national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Along with the increasing trends of the politics mapped and the mapping of politics, the map and politics have become an integral whole in the international arena. Therefore, in order to ensure territorial integrity and the national unity, more attention should be paid to the mapping representation of national territory. With a point cut of the national territory maps discourse, This this study tries to enumerate examples of misuse of China's national territory maps and illustrates its features, backgrounds and the root causes of such problems. Three reasons matter in the frequent misuse of China’s territory map in Chinese scholars’ international scientific papers: ○1the monopoly of multinational companies on the base map; ○2the weak awareness of national territory by Chinese scholars; ○3 the trade-off between Chinese scholars and publishers. Three phenomena and problems behind should arouse extensive attention from the government and scholars. In order to avoid the above phenomena, this paper proposes the following suggestions. First, on the basis of the existing legislation on the production, use and publication of maps in China, Chinese government should continuously promote the enactment and implement of relevant management rules and regulations. Second, attach great importance to the role of transnational corporations and their international impact and have a positive dialogue and negotiation with them in the capacity of Chinese government, declaring Chinese position on the matter of national territory maps and requesting the right boundaries and sovereignty. What’s more, in domestic, we need to intensify the publicity to improve people’s knowledge and arouse their awareness on national sovereignty, thus making the scholars build the spirit to safeguard territorial integrity from details and pay more attention on the specifications of maps.

Influence Effect of Language on Bilateral Trade between Different Countries of "The Belt and Road" -- Empirical Analysis Based on Extended Gravity Model
    2017, 26(5): 21-31.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (545KB) ( )
In recent years, "the Belt and Road" has become an important strategy to the development of China's foreign trade. However, owing to the cultural difference among the involved countries from Asia, Africa and Europe, which have many ethnic groups, the existing barriers still hinder bilateral trade. This paper analyzed the effect of language on the entire and multi-industry trade between different countries involved in "the Belt and Road" by using the gravity model and applying CEP II language database. The empirical results show that the direct communication skill (common spoken language) has the largest impact on the "The Belt and Road" bilateral trade. Other factors, according to its importance level to bilateral trade of "The Belt and Road", are ethnic affiliation (common native language), indirect communication that officially supported by government (common official language) and traditional indirect communication (linguistic proximity). Meanwhile, with the complexity of products increases, the empirical results show that the language effect on multi-industry trade becomes large. For homogeneous products, it relies on low-cost communication due to the low value-added, and therefore the importance of language is very low. For intermediate products, the importance of the language has increased. For heterogeneous products, common native language is largest impact factor on the trade of "the Belt and Road". Others followed by common spoken language, common official language and linguistic proximity, reflect the importance of linguistic factors on heterogeneous products trade of "the Belt and Road".

“One Belt,One Road” and The New Geo-strategic Value of Xinjiang
    2017, 26(5): 32-43.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (577KB) ( )
Xinjiang is the upstream area in the geo-strategic situation of China. For east central government, it played as a strategic flank, barrier, rear and passageway for economic and cultural exchange in ancient and modern history. However, those were not unchangeable, the geo-strategic value of Xinjiang was largely decided by the policy and foreign strategy of central government as well as the peripheral situation. Based on military geography and economic geography in contemporary, the geo-strategic situation of Xinjiang can be divided into six parts. By analyzing the parts and the new opportunity and position brought from “One Belt, One Road”, this paper holds that the geo-strategic value of Xinjiang has changed to (1)the hub for China-Central Asia economic cooperation, (2)the barrier to control the diffusion of terrorism, (3)the strategic passageway for China to influence the geopolitics of South Asia, (4)the land support for China to construct into a maritime power.

Research on the Satisfaction of Urban Barrier Facilities Construction:A Case Study on Lanzhou, China
    2017, 26(5): 56-68.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (748KB) ( )
Barrier free facilities construction is an important part of urban construction, but also the spirit of the city and the degree of civilization of the show. By means of interviews and questionnaires, the main causes of the public and accessible facilities are obtained, based on the theory of public participation in urban construction. The results shows that with the requirement of urban construction and the promotion of social equity, and the arrival of the aging society, Lanzhou barrier free facilities continues to improve. The city government has carried on the barrier free transformation to the existing buildings, roads and so on and has made a clear division of responsibilities in the planning, design, construction, maintenance and other aspects of the barrier free facilities. But based on the public view, the attention and satisfaction of the overall evaluation is not high, especially the satisfaction evaluation of public buildings. Combining with the interview with the main users of the barrier free facilities, the results of this paper shows that there are various problems in the construction of barrier free facilities in Lanzhou City. These problems mainly include that planning and design coverage is not complete, construction is not reasonable, capital investment is short, the implementation of relevant policies and regulations and the implementation of the effect is not ideal, facilities maintenance is not timely. Urban development will promote the construction of urban barrier free facilities. But there are loopholes in the planning, design, construction, maintenance and management in the process of the construction of barrier free facilities. This leads to the construction of barrier free facilities lagging behind urban development. Therefore, we should pay attention to the construction of barrier free facilities and further strengthen public participation、regulatory system、fund management、planning、maintenance management to improve the level of the construction of barrier free facilities.

Study on spatial development trend and its optimization strategies of new urbanization in China
    2017, 26(5): 69-77.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (687KB) ( )
As a grand multi-level urban spatial organization phenomenon, new urbanization has caused widespread concern of society. On the macro-level and meso-level, this article builds an analysis framework of Region-Urban agglomeration(RU) on the method of more situation forecast analysis and comprehensive analysis. Under the analysis framework, the paper analyzes the spatial development trend and pattern of new urbanization. Furthermore, it also conducts a preliminary thinking about the optimization strategies of new urbanization. The results show that: there is a significant gradient pattern of population flow of east, northwest, central and west china, but with the support of a series of policy, the central and west china have been pursuing the east china. Urban agglomeration in China presents obvious regional features. Overall, distribution density, development scale and level of urban agglomerations gradually decrease from east to west. The paper identifies three types of urban agglomerations on two dimensions of the scale system and spatial distribution. Each type presents its own space development pattern and regional distribution characteristics, and then it is necessary for us to implement different development policy to support different types of urban agglomerations.

The impact of metro on spatial structure of Fuzhou's main urban area
    2017, 26(5): 86-95.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (752KB) ( )
As an important part of modern urban rail transit planning, metro is one of the methods to rebuild the urban spatial pattern. On the base of the GIS and SPSS statistical software in drawing and regression analysis, this paper establishs the matrix of time accessibility to calculate the time accessibility’s coefficient of metro. Moreover, it analyzes the impact of metro of line 1 to line 5 on spatial structure of Fuzhou’s main urban area from three aspects , which are the urban spatial scale, the urban center system and the urban function layout. There are three main conclusions in this paper. At first, the result shows that Fuzhou urban spatial scale will amplify after the completion of the metro, and the direction of urban morphology expands to the south and the east. What’s more, there will form five level ranking areas of spatial difference. Secondly, Fuzhou metro will play a key role of urban spatial structure pattern, which strengthens the concentric structure mode of urban. But the center of main urban area will transfer moderately. Thirdly, Fuzhou metro has an essential impact on the urban spatial function layout. The urban commercial layout will form different levels of commercial area by the influence of the metro hub site. But the impact on the layout of residential function is relatively weak, which needs to refer to more variable factors.

    Abstract ( )   PDF (729KB) ( )
With the transformation of social economy, the domestic emerged some idle industrial buildings and industrial heritage. Therefore, government agencies and scholars in colleges, universities and research institutions have been studying the industrial heritage protection and reuse in recent years. In this background, the past 10 years industrial heritage research literatures were analyzed, progresses were summarized, and some insufficiencies were proposed. Industrial heritage research has stepped into the subject research stage, and the biggest characteristic is that moving into the ‘experience’, ‘community’ and ‘creative’ theme, changing single museum protect reuse model to the diverse industrial heritage tourism development. Some ‘refinement’ research directions were formed, including the longitudinal, transverse and industry specialized research trend, but the subject is simple, space-time distribution of the research object is disequilibrium, and industrial heritage management research is insufficient. Finally, combining with the background of the business excessive reproduction of ‘gentleman’, how to balance the rights and interests were reflected, so as to solve realistic problems in the industrial heritage protection and reuse.

A study on residents’ destination images of Hongkong and Taiwan and their influence on travel intentions in Chinese central large cities——The case of Nanchang citizens without having been to Hong Kong and Taiwan
    2017, 26(5): 166-176.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (818KB) ( )
Taking Nanchang for example, the article analyzes and compares residents’ destination images and travel intentions of Hong Kong and Taiwan in Chinese central large cities for two reasons. One is to help authorities and enterprises forecast, run and manage the tourism market for Hong Kong and Taiwan in Chinese central large cities, and the other is to find out whether the difference of destination images of more than one destination leads to the difference of people’s travel intentions among these destinations. The investigation of 598 Nanchang citizens without having been to Hong Kong and Taiwan shows that Hong Kong has more dominant destination image components than Taiwan, and as a whole, the citizens’ travel intention of Hong Kong is significantly stronger than that of Taiwan. In addition, there are significant differences among different groups of citizens in travel intentions of both destinations and destination preferences. The results of logistic regression analysis indicate that most Hong Kong’s ascendant or inferior image factors influence the probability of Hong Kong’s being preferred than Taiwan significantly. The fact verified the causal connection between the difference of destination images and that of travel intentions among more than one destination in the way of potential tourists. Hongkong and Taiwan should pay more attention to expanding the tourism market of central regions, but the specific strategies of them ought to be different.
