The agglomeration pattern and influencing factors of China's game industry from a multiscale perspective

多尺度视角下中国游戏产业集聚格局及影响因素研究

Abstract:

With the arrival of the digital economy era, promoting the development of the gaming industry helps to build new advantages for the digital economy. Based on the data of Chinese gaming companies from 2013-2019, the agglomeration pattern and its evolutionary trend of China's gaming industry are depicted using kernel density estimation, location entropy, and Dagum Gini coefficient. They construct a fixed effect model to explore the influencing factors on the agglomeration pattern of gaming industry. The results show: ① The overall trend of China's gaming industry is a "dense in the east and sparse in the west" spatial distribution pattern which aligns highly with the "Hu Huanyong Line". It consistently maintains a multi-core spatial pattern such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Chengdu-Chongqing metropolitan circle, presenting a situation of coexistence of agglomeration and expansion. ②There is regional heterogeneity in the agglomeration level of the gaming industry, and the difference between regions is the main source of the difference in the agglomeration pattern. On a provincial scale, the agglomeration level of the gaming industry is clearly polarized, with the high-value area constantly shrinking and the low-value area constantly expanding. On a city scale, the gaming industry is highly agglomerated in first-tier cities, with a clear preference for "high-level cities", and presents an agglomeration pattern of local concentration and overall dispersion. ③ Different influencing factors have significant regional heterogeneity at different scales, generally speaking, Communication infrastructure, cultural activity, urban economic level, government policies and industrial structure are significant factors affecting the development of the gaming industry. This research reveals the agglomeration pattern and influencing factors of China's gaming industry, aiming to provide decision-making references for the development and spatial layout of the gaming industry.

摘要:

随着数字经济时代的到来,推动游戏产业发展有助于打造数字经济新优势。基于2013—2019年中国游戏企业数据,运用核密度估计、区位熵和Dagum基尼系数等方法刻画中国游戏产业集聚格局及其演化态势,并采用固定效应模型探讨其集聚的影响因素。结果表明:①中国游戏产业总体呈“东密西疏”的空间分布格局,与“胡焕庸线”高度一致,始终保持京津冀、长三角、珠三角、成渝都市圈等多核心空间形态,呈现集聚与扩张并存态势。②游戏产业集聚水平存在区域异质性,区域间差异是集聚格局差异的主要来源。省域尺度上,游戏产业集聚水平两极分化明显,其中高值区不断缩小,低值区不断扩张;市域尺度上,游戏产业高度集聚在一线城市,具有明显的“高等级城市”偏好,总体呈现局部集中、整体分散的集聚格局。③不同影响因素在不同尺度下的作用呈现出显著的区域异质性,其中,通信基础设施、文化活跃度、城市经济水平、政府政策和产业结构是影响游戏产业发展的重要因素。本文揭示了中国游戏产业的集聚格局及其影响因素,旨在为游戏产业的高质量发展提供决策参考。
